175 Adult and Youth Leaders are needed July 7 through August 1, 2019 to lead 17 classrooms with 2 Adults, 2 Youth and 2 Assistant Youth Leaders in each classroom of 10  students. DISD background check is required for all volunteers.

You need only know English, basic phonics, reading and writing.  All course materials, students, classrooms, and snacks, will be provided for you.

If you are volunteering for VMSRA for the first time, please go to our
"Contact Us" webpage, and take the first step by letting our Program Coordinator know you are available to serve as a Tutor for our Vickery Meadow Summer Reading Academy,
LOCATION Jack Lowe Elementary from July 12 (Classroom Setup) to August 9 (Clean up).

You will have a class of NOT MORE THAN 20 students, and will share class responsibilities with another Adult Tutor, a Youth Leader, and an Assistant Youth Leader.

Youth Leaders are responsible for many logistics, too numerous to catalog, and they develop on a moment's notice.  Youth are our "physically flexible" staff, so they get the "fun and run" stuff.  They are in full control of 7am-8am Brain and Body Warm up with athletics  in the gym,  and puzzles/games in the cafeteria.  Youth manage soccer on Thursdays.
Youth assist in the classroom where we assign 2 adults in charge of curriculum for every 10 students.  Youth Leaders will tutor, lead groups, run errands, play with distracted kids to get them back on task, etc.

Please let our Program Coordinator know any questions you may have by emailing to VMSRA2018@gmail.com
